North Rhine-Westphalia becomes a hotspot for digital health startups

The German federal state North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) has become a home to over 120 digital health startups. The federal state is becoming an increasingly popular location for young firms who strive to shake up the healthcare industry (link in German). Despite the good figures, founders of such startups want to have more market access, easier opportunities for re-financing, and more industry-specific information to become available. Responders to the survey by Startbase.De, new entrepreneurs recommend four measures: continuous monitoring of the digital health landscape, a central contact point, industry-specific training opportunities. Also, competence networks are crucial, where startups can work together with patients and healthcare facilities as well as other companies.
