German experts interviewed on AI supported certification of medical devices

Professor Jochen Hampe, Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Digital Health, TU Dresden, and Dr Georg Heidenreich, Quality Manager, Siemens Healthcare GmbH provided an interview to Medica (link in German) on the much discussed issue of AI supported certification of medical devices.

In the recently started project KIMEDS, an AI-supported security solution that aims to monitor the entire life cycle of medical software in order to shorten the time from development to certification of innovative medical technology. The goal is the best possible medical care for patients. To this end, science, industry and regulatory authorities are working closely together on the project.

Professor Jochen Hampe is a physician. Dr Georg Heidenreich is a computer scientist. Together they are in charge of KIMEDS. Medica spoke to them about reason behind AI employment in the certification process for medical technology products
