80% Germans are unaware of healthcare metaverse

BearingPoint, a major European technology consultancy, has launched a new survey on digital health in Germany (link in German). The report found that 26 percent of 25-34-year-olds and 13 percent of 55-plus year-olds use wearables as a way to monitor or optimize their health in Germany.

However, 80 percent of consumers have never heard of the Healthcare Metaverse. According BearingPoint in Frankfurt am Main, this number is even higher in elder age groups, 94 percent for those over 55.

From August 9th to 11th, 2022, 2,053 people in Germany participated in an online survey conducted by YouGov Germany on behalf of BearingPoint. Those results are representative of the population over 18 years of age, according to the consulting firm.

BearingPoint explains the background: the metaverse – a digital world based on virtual and augmented reality – can also be used in healthcare. Through the use of virtual reality, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence, future diagnoses, treatment, and therapy methods can be optimized in a healthcare metaverse.
