New Delhi hosted the first-ever Global Digital Health Summit, Expo and Innovation Awards. Co-hosted by the Internet Governance Forum, the United Nations, the summit took place on the 28th and the 29th October 2022 in partnership with global bodies working in digital health.
India’s achievements during the covid-19 pandemic were also highlighted by Union Minister Jitendra Singh. A landmark achievement was the launch of CoWin, a digital platform designed to help health workers. The CoWin platform has allowed India to deliver over 2,2 billion vaccinations.
There have been a number of efforts to make health services more accessible to everyone. The National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) was launched by the government in 2020 to achieve universal health coverage. Digital health ecosystems are part of the NDHM. There are four key features of the digital platform: health ID, personal health records, Digi Doctor, and health facility registry. Under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the National Health Authority (NHA) implements the NDHM.
In the National Health Policy 2017, one of the guidelines called for the creation of an integrated health information system by incorporating digital health technologies.
