The German DiGA (CE-marked medical device) market has started to establish itself, Dr Florian Koerber, an expert with Flying Health, writes in the column at Tagesspiegel (link in German). He looks at the pricing of medical devices and health apps in Germany, as well as their funding, marketing and sales. Dr Koerber concludes that it is now time for manufacturers to take a look at marketing and enter into partnerships:
“The increasing activity of pharmaceutical manufacturers, SMEs and medical technology companies should provide additional movement in the market ensure which startups compete with their own applications, but also offer potential for promising partnerships. The growth in new DiGA will also ensure a professionalization of the market. Because even if many current DiGA applicants seem to fail on the fast track of the BfArM, the first “DiGA factories” are already emerging among the manufacturers, which are launching several offers on the market with a high standard of evidence and professionalism bring. For the strategists among the DiGA manufacturers, these trends also open up new opportunities in terms of funding and capital acquisition to negotiate profitable deals and to strengthen their own competitive position in the long term”.
